Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was very sought-after by the top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father was an eminent geologist and awarded the title of Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Because of his professional career Carey was raised all over the world. When she finished her studies at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she began to do modeling as a side. The idea caught the attention of a Ford Model Agency New York. In 1980, she moved to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris and Bordeaux but returned to New York in order to pursue an acting career. She appeared on Vogue as well as Glamour pages. When she was modeling, she continued to study at a full-time level for a literary major at New York University. Then she became interested in acting, and began training with the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She began her acting career through a tiny part in the film 'Club Paradise" in 1986, starring Robin Williams. When she is not working she loves skiing and windsurfing, climbing up rocks and whitewater rafting.
