Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American actress and musician. She began by releasing funny, well-written rap songs that addressed questions of racial identity and sexuality. Then she expanded her audience to Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents within Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came through the trumpet. Following her Jazz and classical training her interest in hip-hop grew in her teen years. Following a focus on education, she earned a degree in journalism in university and also a women's study degree. Not until after graduation did she start focusing on music. The My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a huge hit on the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger. On the album, there were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$. The track that was the last one to be closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide which was published in 2015. With musician and author on her resume she set her sights on acting in a third project. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films like Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. The actress made headlines in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
